The building and construction industry has a major influence on every Australian, providing homes in which we live, the places where we work and play, schools, hospitals, and infrastructure essential for our day to day living.

As one of the top five industries in Australia , the housing sector alone makes up a significant proportion, expanding continuously with the ever-growing renovations market.  

And representing the housing industry is HIA. With over 40,000 members nation-wide, the Housing Industry Association is the voice of this important, growing industry.

Whether in HIA or in the industry itself, interesting and exciting career paths are available in fields as diverse as IT, design, sales, marketing, estimating, trades, planning, law, landscaping, architecture – just to mention a few. Whether it’s through an academic route or an apprenticeship or work experience, there are plenty of roads to success.

It’s a basic truth that people will always need homes. Along with shops, restaurants, office buildings, roads – anything you care to think of. And somebody has to design, build, promote, maintain and renovate them. Somebody clever, committed, and highly skilled.
