Treetop Luxury Living

Queensland's latest eco-friendly development has taken luxury living to a new high - literally.

“It is great to be part of such an innovative new development that focuses so strongly on eco-friendly building.”

Treehouses Currumbin is the latest prestige development by Galli Developments and features 67 contemporary houses and 44 bushland villas carefully perched on the slopes above the Gold Coast's beautiful Currumbin Beach.

The aim is to have as little impact on the environment as possible with 70 per cent of the site being protected to maintain the native plants and trees. As a result, the homes all sit above ground and are made from lightweight, aesthetically relevant materials that help integrate the homes into their surroundings, including roofing made from COLORBOND® steel.

Designed by architects Bligh Voller Nield, the innovative layout of the homes allows for provision of natural climate-controlled living through maximum ventilation from the cool sea breezes and, consequently, a significant reduction in ongoing domestic energy consumption.

As recommended by the Gold Coast City Council, all homes at Treehouses feature roofing and rainwater goods made from COLORBOND® steel due to their aesthetic benefits, ability to collect rainwater for stormwater management tanks and their hard-wearing properties. In addition, COLORBOND® steel was used in selected balcony ceiling areas to complement the houses designs and ensure ease of maintenance.

Neil McLeod, building estimator for Arundel Homes, builders for Galli Developments, explains: “Roofing and rainwater goods made from COLORBOND® steel were chosen to complement the other lightweight materials used on the homes at Treehouses and to ensure that they fitted into the natural bushland setting and didn't look out of place. As a company we are using more and more products made from COLORBOND® steel in our developments as issues like sustainable building become more prevalent within the industry.”

Simon Charrington, market development manager for BlueScope Steel, adds: “It is great to be part of such an innovative new development that focuses so strongly on eco-friendly building. Roofing made from COLORBOND® steel not only looks great on the houses, but assists in the collection of rainwater, keeps the home cool in summer and is incredibly long-lasting.”
