Apprentice Benefits

To have a successful, rewarding, challenging and well-paid career you need to get a university degree!

HIA Apprentices

WRONG!!!

There are countless success stories of apprentices in the home building industry who have gone on to be managing directors of successful home building and trade contracting businesses.

There are many unique advantages to apprenticeship training that you won’t get from a university course:

  • Earn while you learn
  • No HECS debts
  • Learn through practical hands-on experience
  • Receive dedicated mentoring from a current practicing industry professional
  • Be pretty much guaranteed employment when you complete your course.
  • Be able to work virtually anywhere in the world when you complete your course.
  • Have doors open to a diverse range of career paths
  • Receive four years practical work experience giving you a head start in the workforce over university graduates.

The HIA Apprenticeship Scheme offers a unique alternative for school leavers, with the chance of gaining life-time skills while being part of one of the largest industries in Australia.

Earn while you learn.

Combining the knowledge, expertise and theory, but without the expensive HECS debt, with the hands-on experience and training you’d get from a 9-to-5 job, HIA Apprentices offers the most practical step between school and the workforce.

As an HIA apprentice, you will undertake practical employment, working in the field of your choosing. You will receive assistance, understanding and support. Throughout the period of your employment, you will gain additional knowledge and skills applicable to your career through accredited courses. You will learn in an environment where everyone is on the same wavelength, in the same industry, and with the same interests as you. All this, and you will be paid as well.

Gain the competitive advantage to give you an edge in your vocation.  HIA Apprentices delivers job satisfaction and the knowledge that you’ve already begun to climb the corporate ladder. The scheme allows for flexibility in working conditions and job rotation for multi-skilling.

Still at school?

You can begin your training while still at school. Some institutions offer certain courses which will give you accreditation towards your apprenticeship studies, not to mention the knowledge and understanding you will start to accumulate from your first day on the job. Ask your careers advisor for more information, or visit www.bigplans.com.au

Sounds like you?

Most of our apprentices are 17 to 24 years old. Most have access to their own transport. Numbers are continually growing and we are always looking for enthusiastic and talented people to join our team.

What apprenticeships are offered?

Listed below are some of the trades offered by HIA Apprentices, but we are not limited to these trades. If it’s to do with the building and construction industry and there is a national qualification, then we can offer you an apprenticeship in that trade.

  • Solid Plastering
  • Cabinet Making
  • Brick Laying
