Welcome to HIA GreenSmart
As Australia’s peak residential building and construction association, HIA provides leadership in the recognition of environmentally responsible residential building and land development through its GreenSmart program.
GreenSmart was established by HIA in 1999 to promote practical, affordable and durable environmental solutions for residential design and construction. The growth of the HIA GreenSmart initiative since its inception has been significant and is now widely recognised as a leading industry initiative for achieving more environmentally responsible housing and residential communities.
GreenSmart is the only program of its kind in Australia that provides an overarching response to the construction and promotion of environmentally responsible housing along with an educational campaign to HIA members and consumers.
The principles of ‘Building the GreenSmart Way’ are communicated through GreenSmart training courses, accreditation of GreenSmart Professionals and housing projects, national GreenSmart awards and events, the annual greensmart magazine, GreenSmart Leaders and Partners, web pages and promotional material.
When considering your next building project – consider ‘Building the GreenSmart Way’.
Ten years ago the Housing Industry Association made a commitment to Australia’s future by initiating the HIA GreenSmart program. greensmart – the original ‘green’ building magazine for non-professionals – is key to that commitment. Click here to read the 2009 edition.
