National Construction Code - What is it?
From 2011, there will be a new National Construction Code published by the Australian Building Codes Board which incorporate BCA 2011 Volumes 1 and 2, along with a new Plumbing Code of Australia.

Electrical installations – licensing requirements (Nat)
All Australian states require all electrical work to be preformed by a licensed electrician and to comply with AS/NZS 3000 – Wiring Rules. This includes removing and re-installing a socket outlet. However, all states offer restricted licence classes to trades other than electricians

Swimming pool barriers (WA)
By 17 December 2006 all existing pools and spas with a depth exceeding 300mm must satisfy new pool barrier requirements. Where a property is sold after 01 January 2005, the buyer must ensure their pool enclosures meet the new requirements within 3 months from the date of settlement.

WA Changes to Government Tendering Arrangements
From 1 January 2007, Priority Start - Building will be included in all advertised State Government building and construction tenders, including civil and engineering, with an estimated labour component in excess of $300,000.
