Recently, we were asked this question by a member who had been asked to repair and/or remove roofs and walls that had been damaged during the bout of heavy storms that hit New South Wales late last year. Our member’s question was: “Can bonded asbestos be damaged to such an extent that it is no longer ‘bonded’ asbestos, but is regarded as being ‘friable’ asbestos?” (Although our member was licensed to remove bonded asbestos, he wasn’t licensed to handle and/or remove friable asbestos).
