Do I need a licence?
In most circumstances, only a registered builder may enter into contracts to carry out building work valued at over $20,000. Building work is the erection or structural alteration of any building of a permanent nature used or intended to be used for residential, professional, manufacturing, trading, commercial, hospital, institutional, assemblage or public purposes. Therefore, whether you will need a licence will depend on the scope and value of your work.
