GreenSmart continues to experience an increased level of interest from consumers, where they are looking for GreenSmart Professionals, visiting GreenSmart accredited housing projects and searching the GreenSmart website for practical information. Undertaking the GreenSmart Professional course provides HIA members with the information required to respond to increasing consumer demand and in 2008 over 500 HIA members completed the GreenSmart Professional course, culminating in over 4,000 HIA members being accredited as a GreenSmart Professional. GreenSmart welcomed Fletcher Insulation as a GreenSmart Leader and Ensystex, Apricus and Village Building Company as GreenSmart Partners, along with Simonds Homes and Modern Group as GreenSmart Partners for 2009. The GreenSmart Accreditation of housing projects has seen substantial interest from land developers and builders who are keen to incorporate GreenSmart inclusions and promote their point of differentiation in the market with consumers. There are currently 327 GreenSmart accredited Display Homes, 15 GreenSmart Estates, 4 GreenSmart Developments and 9 GreenSmart Display Villages on display around the country. Building the GreenSmart Way is communicated to consumers through the greensmart magazine, where the fifth edition was for sale nationally through newsagents and HIA expos. Consumer exposure to GreenSmart also extended to the presence of the GreenSmart Building Zone in the HIA Home Expos.

On 8th May, 2008, a small group of GreenSmart Leaders and Partners left Australia to take part in a Green Building tour of the United States as part of the GreenSmart program. The tour group visited a range of projects in Tuscon, Arizona and New Orleans, Louisiana in addition to the Green Building Conference.

In 2007 there has been a great deal of interest in the GreenSmart Initiative. We have now more than 3,500 members accredited as GreenSmart Professionals, consumers can view the practical elements of ‘Building the GreenSmart Way’ with 493 GreenSmart Accredited Display Homes now on display, consumers can view the latest in ‘green’ building products exhibited in the GreenSmart Building zone in all the HIA Expos and read about the latest products in the GreenSmart Product Guide.
