is an experienced officer of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship working in partnership with HIA to help members better understand how to use immigration's services to address skilled labour shortages.
Located in HIA’s National Office in

, Marie
gives expert support to members who want to employ skilled overseas workers. She
gives seminars and workshops for members about visa options and immigration processes and also responds to members’ questions on general immigration matters as well as individual cases.

Easing the Skills Squeeze
A recent survey by HIA of all 13 construction industry trades shows that they all remain in short supply – adding to housing affordability problems. And while HIA strongly supports the Australian Government’s commitment to training Australians as the top priority to address skills shortages, it estimates that the industry needs an additional 20,000 skilled tradespeople in the next few years.
