Draft National Construction Code – Plumbing Provisions released for public comment
The Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) have now released for public comment the first draft of the National Construction Code – Plumbing Provisions Volume 3. It is intended that the NCC be in placed by May 2011.

BCA 2010 Changes to Volume 1 – Class 2 to 9 buildings (Nat)
The Building Code of Australia (BCA) 2010 has been published and is now available for sale through the Australian Building Codes Board and resellers. The BCA 2010 is implemented on 1 May 2010 as an annual edition containing all yearly amendments, Volume 1 contains provisions for Class 2-9 buildings and Volume 2 contains provisions for Class 1 and 10 buildings or the ‘Housing Provisions’.

New regulations or bushfire shelters (Vic)
Under new interim building regulations introduced on 11 November 2009 through the Building Regulations 2006, building surveyors will be unable to issue building permits for bushfire shelters unless the shelter carries some form of accreditation.

Home insulation program: requirements for installers and home owners (Nat)
The Homeowner Insulation Rebate for ceiling insulation can be claimed for installation under the Energy Efficiency Homes Package. Applications can be submitted for work undertaken since 3 February 2009, subject to meeting the relevant eligibility criteria.

AS 3000 2007 New wiring rules for electrical work (Nat)
Australian Standard 3000 - Wiring Rules for all electrical installations in Australia has been updated and will be introduced by all states and territories during mid-2008. Builders need to be aware of some changes in the standard which will affect house construction.
