HIA Safety Services uses a practical hands-on approach to providing its on-site fee-for-service consultations and can help you achieve a safe worksite adopting a commonsense approach in finding a practical solution for your site. Their services include:
- preparation of customised paper-based systems such as safety plans, procedures, safe work method statements;
- preparation of policies in consultation with your work force;
- assistance with the implementation of safety management systems;
- on-site risk assessments providing practical solutions on how to handle issues such as building and construction hazards and high risk work activities;
- safety audits – both site-based and office-based;
- helping members in situations where WorkCover inspectors become involved, including accident investigation and reporting;
- on-site training to contractors and other tradesmen.

Brian Dorber is the Senior Safety Adviser having had many years experience in Occupational Health and Safety. Brian once ran his own company, handling all the WorkCover investigations for the Bank of Melbourne in Victoria and more recently, was a Senior Investigator with the Australian Building and Construction Commission. Troy Winn is trade-qualified and holds a Workplace Health and Safety Officer’s Certificate. Raffi Evanian holds a Builder’s licence and a Diploma in Residential Site Safety and Building Studies. Prior to joining HIA Safety Services, Raffi was working as a Project Manager/ Safety Officer in the residential building industry and before that, as an accredited WorkCover NSW Safety Officer. Kevin McKeown is a licensed Plumber and Gas Fitter and operated his own business for several years after completing his apprenticeship. He also holds a Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training and is currently studying for his Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
