Sustainable Homes Program
The Sustainable Homes program is unique collaborative effort of Government and industry that aims to provide communities throughout Queensland with display homes which incorporate principles of sustainable design and performance. The homes are unique because they provide practical examples, within their regional climatic context, of dwellings that aim to meet the triple bottom line concept of sustainability i.e. environmental, social and economic sustainability.

The program aims to produce a greater consumer demand for sustainable housing practices and products through community education and understanding of how easily sustainable housing features can be included in their own home.
HIA is a key partner in the Sustainable Homes Program. HIA GreenSmart has assisted through the identification of key local HIA GreenSmart Professinal accredited builders suited to the construction of the local projects as well as project design review. These homes will also be used to conduct HIA GreenSmart training in homes located in regional centres to showcase the benefits of a GreenSmart home.
