ACT Regional Partners
The Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) is the first training institution in Australia to be awarded HIA GreenSmart Regional Partnership.
CIT has received this recognition for its leadership in promoting and educating industry and the broader community on good environmental and sustainability practices.
This leadership is clearly on show out at CIT’s Bruce Campus where work is underway on the construction of an innovative Sustainability Hub. On completion this Sustainability Hub will provide a working facility for students undertaking education courses in areas of green technology and environmental management.
In addition, CIT intends on putting all workers on site during the construction phase through HIA’s new GreenSkills course. This latest version of the HIA GreenSmart training has been developed in consultation with CIT and is aimed at providing the fundamentals of good environmental and sustainability practices, not just to the construction managers, but to employees and contractors.
This training is designed to generate awareness of sustainability as well as provide skills sets to assist those undertaking the training with future employment. It has become a critical area to develop knowledge and expertise in given the heavy focus on the environment
CIT will continue to play an important role as an HIA GreenSmart Regional Partner in providing further training and education that will be vital in achieving future environmental outcomes in construction and development.

CIC Crace Pty Ltd is proud to be an ACT HIA GreenSmart Regional Partner and an accredited HIA GreenSmart Professional.
From modest beginnings, CIC has grown into one of the region’s most successful and progressive development companies. This regional partnership recognises the leadership role that CIC is taking by incorporating GreenSmart principles into its housing estates across the ACT region.
CIC has demonstrated its commitment to delivering sustainable development across a range of projects, most recently through Canberra’s newest green suburb, Crace.
Crace is the first HIA GreenSmart estate in the ACT and one of only 15 nationally to receive accreditation.
HIA’s Regional Executive Director, Stuart Collins, has praised Crace for its environmentally sustainable features, including its industry-leading carbon management program, and for ensuring the highest quality housing is available at a range of price points.
At Crace, a number of homes will be available to home buyers for less than $300,000 and for less than $500,000 based on current prices, making them affordable for first home buyers, couples, families and retirees as well as investors.
“To work towards environmentally sustainable development and still offer a range of affordable housing options to consumers is something we haven’t seen to this extent before through the GreenSmart program,” Mr Collins said.
