What is HIA about?
HIA is a national membership association for the residential building industry. We employ over 290 people across to provide our members with an assorted range of services, products and events.
Our core business activities
A career at HIA offers diversity like no other organisation.
You could be involved in;
- organising's largest home & building expo and its associated convention;
- mentoring youth in one of our group schemes;
- lobbying with state and federal governments;
- making a difference in the day-to-day lives of our members by providing support and assistance on important real life issues; or
- the marketing and sales of one of our many business activities.
You do not have to come from a building trade background to have a rewarding career with HIA. Our business portfolio includes successful event and training functions, publications, membership sales, affinity and joint venture programs and a national group apprenticeship scheme.
Other core service and policy streams include building technology and OH&S, workplace services, town planning, environmental technology, economics, media, policy development and lobbying, finance and general administration.
In essence a career at HIA has something to offer everyone. You can learn new things, be constantly challenged and rewarded for your efforts.
What does HIA look for in a new employee?
HIA values a wide range of attributes in its staff. If we were to name the top three skills and attributes they would be:
-
Customer service; Our members are our number one priority. A clear commitment and understanding of how to meet their needs enables HIA to grow and maintain our membership;
-
Teamwork. Our business relies on a team environment. We value and encourage the contribution of ideas and the individual skills and attributes of all our employees.
-
Flexibility . HIA staff are rarely 'boxed' into a particular career. We understand the need for diversity and encourage existing staff to move into other fields or services to broaden their experience within the association.
