HISTORY:
The HIA – BDDC was formed around 12 years ago as a response of around 50 HIA designer members.
Over time the number of Building designer members with the HIA grew to several hundred.
Because the BDDC is affiliated with HIA the benefit of becoming a HIA- BDDC member are twofold:
Members of the HIA- BDDC can access all the services offered to HIA members from our various departments such as:
- Technical (access to free advice including Australian standards, BCA, planning schemes and relevant legislation)
- Planning and Environment
- Industrial Relations and Legal
- Occupational Health and Safety
- Membership Services
- HIA Bookshop (Design and Construct Manuals, Timber Framing Manuals, Design Agreement, Shadow Draw, General and Project Specifications etc)
And also all the services specifically targeted to BDDC members such as:
- Seminars (5 Star Energy, Town Planning)
- New registration guidelines and assistance
- Free reference material
- Referral service
- Insurance – PI and PL
