SafeWork SA has resources to help you understand the new work health and safety laws and share the message with your workers and colleagues.

The Familiar principles with a new approach brochure (PDF 312kb) explains the key principles of the new laws. You can obtain a print copy from SafeWork Bookshop. This brochure is complemented by a presentation (PDF 1744kb) about the major changes and an A4 poster (PDF 194kb) which is ideal for posting on your workplace noticeboard.

A series of Fact sheets and information sheets is also available. These will be supplemented over time.

Truss Training

As a result of amendments to the development act in 2011 there is now a requirement for supervisors involved in the erection of trusses to sign off on the compliance.  In order to sign the compliance sheet you must have completed an accredited training course.  The requirements for the compliance certificate commence on 1 July 2012. At the recent HIA - FMG Engineering Infrastructure Breakfast the representative from the Dept of Trade, Economic Development and Energy provided a very useful and comprehensive document on where mining activity is taking place in regional South Australia and the areas of opportunity for residential builders to participate.
