Inspection of buildings - general requirements

Overview provides the basic criteria necessary in order to facilitate inspections and reports that satisfy the requirements of both the client and inspector.

The objective of this Australian Standard is to provide people and organisations concerned with inspections of residential dwellings with the basic criteria necessary in order to facilitate inspections and reports that satisfy the requirements of both the client and inspector.

What does it include?

AS 4349.0 contains 4 sections consisting of:

  • Section 1 Deals with the Scope and General Section, Covering Scope, Limitations of the standard, referenced documents and definitions.
  • Section 2 Deals with the Inspection Agreement, covering General, Purpose of the Inspection, and Scope of the Inspection.
  • Section 3 Deals with The Inspection, covering General, Areas to be Inspected, defects, and Inspection Records.
  • Section 4 Deals with the Report, covering General, Report Content and Conditions.

Is the standard referenced in the NCC or other legislation?

No.

Who is the standard for? 

This standard is to facilitate inspections and reports that satisfy the requirements of both the client and inspector.
