Clean up of bush fire affected areas - NSW

February 02, 2020

Before you begin any work in a bushfire affected property take a few minutes to read the important information about clean-up of affected properties.

The recent fires across the state have caused immense damage to property and lives. With the large amount of properties damaged, the NSW Government is providing a free clean-up service.

As clean up and reconstruction work begins in bushfire affected areas there is a need to be fully aware of and consider a range of hazards and risks to health and safety hazards that may be present but would not normally exist on a construction site.

The NSW government is encouraging people to use the free clean-up service, which is available to all insured and uninsured residences and businesses affected by the bushfires. This program focuses on safety hazards and issues that could impede people rebuilding their homes.

In the event that people decide to clean up themselves there are some considerations that should be taken before returning to clean up bush fire affected areas.

Builders, home owners and businesses should be aware that deciding to remove waste from an affected site, can affect your registration and ability to use the Governments free clean-up service.
