June 25, 2020

Travel Advisory for Six Local Council Areas

The Australian Health Protection Principal Committee has urged all people to avoid travel to and from the local council areas where there has been a spike in COVID-19 cases. The council areas include Hume, Casey, Brimbank, Moreland, Cardinia and Darebin.

Members travelling to building sites in these council areas should be cautious until community transmission is under control.

The Victorian Government has not ruled out specific ‘stay at home’ directions for these areas which may further impact personal and business travel. HIA will advise members should a change occur.

Testing Blitzes

In response to the jump in cases, the Premier has announced a testing blitz on ten suburbs with high levels of community transmission.

A suburban testing blitz is being held and the priority suburbs include Keilor Downs, Broadmeadows, Maidstone, Albanvale, Sunshine West, Hallam, Brunswick West, Fawkner, Reservoir and Pakenham.

Members living in these suburbs may wish to find out more about the testing blitz. Over the next 10 days, residents of these suburbs will receive free testing – with or without symptoms.
