Extended hours for building sites to continue - NSW
March 25, 2021
Temporary COVID-19 extended construction working hours in NSW will stay in place until the end of March 2022.
Today, NSW Planning and Public Spaces Minister Rob Stokes announced that extended construction hours for building sites, due to end today, will remain in place until 31 March 2022.
This allows the industry to continue to work on weekends and public holidays.
HIA has been seeking the continuation of these flexible working hours to support the industry work safely on site during the pandemic.
Limitations on construction work
In order to reduce the impact of construction noise, during these extended hours construction work must not involve rock breaking, rock hammering, sheet piling, pile driving or similar activities.
Builders must also take all feasible and reasonable measures to minimise noise.
Other measures also extended
Other temporary changes made in March 2020 have also been extended until 31 March 2022 including:
- Extended home business operating hours;
- Extended retail trading and operating hours; and
- That physical copies of planning documents are no longer required.
