New HIA Guidelines for Consumers Visiting NSW Display Homes Released - Hunter
May 07, 2020
Display homes and villages for new dwellings were never specifically closed by NSW COVID-19 restrictions but were caught up in the consumer confusion created by the imposed restrictions on real estate auctions and open home inspections.
The real estate specific restrictions will be officially lifted by the release of a Public Health Order today. The Order will permit open homes and onsite auctions from this weekend.
HIA has successfully petitioned this week that the Order also include a reference to display homes. This will give the unequivocal green light that display homes can operate in NSW and will serve to overcome the previous consumer confusion.
To help members that operate in this space HIA has released the HIA Consumer Guidelines for Visiting NSW Display Homes.
The guidelines cover all the necessary social distancing, hygiene and record keeping protocols that must be adhered to within display homes. The guidelines are available in A4 and A3 format.
Implementing these guidelines ensures that new home buyers in NSW can feel safe to visit HIA member display homes when seeking to purchase or select a builder for their dream home.
The guidelines form part of the Making Space on Site COVID-19 safety toolkit. The toolkit now includes eight industry guidelines and consumer guides in five languages aimed at assisting our industry keep their staff and their customers safe.
