In 2007, the client enjoyed living in a three-storey townhouse that had been renovated by the Pichelmann team. Now retired, she sought to future-proof her home with lift access to all floors. The installation of the lift presented a significant challenge due to its precise dimensions, requiring meticulous coordination. This required redesigning the living spaces and determining the lift's location, enhancing accessibility and amenity throughout. Engineering modifications were necessary to support the mid-level concrete floor for the lift shaft while also considering the aesthetics in relation to the existing stairwell and upper-level spaces. The kitchen, laundry, and master ensuite was skilfully revamped to suit an aging homeowner. Additional complexities included retrofitting reverse cycle air conditioning and redesigning the staircase, ultimately creating a visually appealing and functional living space to suit the homeowner for years to come.
