Custom Built Home

Queensland Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards

Winner: Heelass Homes

This off-grid home is defined by its bold material execution and architectural clarity. The residence features a monolithic off-form concrete structure, cantilevered flat roof, and recessed door systems integrated seamlessly into the concrete formwork. These details demand a high level of precision and craftsmanship. Internally, rich timber cladding and polished concrete floors deliver warmth, texture, and refined contrast against the raw structure. A curved timber batten wall forms a sculptural element within the circulation zone, demonstrating custom detailing and skilled joinery. Expansive glazing opens the interior to the natural surrounds while maintaining clean lines and passive light control. Built on a sloping site with preserved vegetation and rock formations, the project navigates material performance and environmental sensitivity. This is a home where structure, finish and detailing are resolved as one — showcasing material innovation through execution, not embellishment.
