The HIA Apprentice Awards celebrate the achievements of our future tradespeople while encouraging continued excellence in the industry. The awards recognise outstanding trade knowledge, quality building work, strong presentation and solid trade school results.

Submit your entry to your local HIA office. Check below for your region's closing date.

Who can apply?

This award is open to all apprentices of HIA members. Apprentices can be nominated by their host, by HIA Apprentices or they can nominate themselves.

Why enter?

The HIA Apprentice Awards are a great opportunity for young, motivated apprentices to gain further recognition in the industry. Not only are the awards a fantastic networking opportunity, winners and finalists will gain a strong reputation as they continue to transition into the workforce.

What are we looking for?

Judges consider attitude to work, maturity, personal development and overall progress throughout the Apprenticeship. They also consider the following:

  • Work ethic
  • Communication skills and personal presentation
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Trade and industry knowledge
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Understanding of Work, Health & Safety
  • Relationship with fellow workers, host and clients
  • Academic results and award.

Announcement of winners

Winners will be announced at each regional Housing Awards presentation in late 2018.

Winners from each state awards then progress to the 2019 HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards.
