Renovation / Addition Project of the Year
A design born from a client with impeccable taste and a desire to create a space that mixes a range of quality natural materials resulting in a timeless building. Nestled in established rainforest gardens and cut into a sloped block, this building has a real pureness in both the aspect and materials used. External walls are splayed exposed rammed earth, this supports a roof structure made from recycled Australian hardwood, salvaged from wharf and warehouse timbers in Brisbane. Atop the timber structure is a butterfly roof wrapped in double standing seam copper, closing out a well-balanced building envelope that exists in its surrounding landscape effortlessly.
