What's it all about?
{{ propApi.expandedIcon }} {{ propApi.collapsedIcon }}

Are you looking to enter the residential construction industry, and looking for insight into the technical standards governing building performance? Perhaps you’re working in a draughting office, and want to expand your skillset? You might already be working in the trades and want to increase your knowledge and understanding, or explore whether a Certificate IV qualification is right for you?

The residential construction industry remains strong, with high demand for skilled individuals across all aspects of construction.

The HIA Building Compliance Ready part-qualification may be the perfect course for you, if you want to strengthen your knowledge and ability to work with the National Construction Code (NCC) and structural standards. Completion of this part-qualification will have you set up for success in ensuring buildings meet the applicable performance requirements. Credit transfers for this course can also be transferred into attaining your full CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) in the future.

You will learn how to:

  • Access, read and interpret Australian Standards and the NCC, to determine the correct building classification and identify the relevant compliance requirements
  • Understand and apply the NCC compliance pathways, assessment methods and evidence of suitability requirements to demonstrate compliance of a product or design
  • Identify and determine the fire protection requirements of buildings, and check for compliance with both active and passive fire protection
  • Analyse building plans and specifications to ensure the design and materials will meet the structural requirements
  • Assess new products and technologies to see if they are suitable for your projects
  • Plan and coordinate work involving footings & earthworks, flooring systems, wall systems and structural roofing, ad ensure compliance with the NCC and project documentation

Where there are specific units that require access to onsite equipment, this will be arranged with you directly, and may involve face to face training at your nearest HIA office.

What are the core and elective units?
