This qualification provides advanced construction skills and an understanding of tasks applicable to many construction building sites.
The course is structured to allow a choice from a range of units aligned at Certificate III level. Completing these units could provide meaningful credit in a construction industry Australian Apprenticeship.
The construction industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires all units of competency to be delivered in this context.
This training program has been grouped into a series of short courses, which provide a progressive and practical learning experience. The short courses are:

Note: It is a requirement that participants have successfully completed the unit of competency Apply OHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry - CPCCOHS2001A, before undertaking any of the following units:
All participants will be required to undertake and pass a language, literacy and numeracy assessment before enrolment.
You will need to commit 144 hours of face-to-face learning time for this training. Contact your local HIA office to find out more information about delivery schedules.
Outside of this allocation of time, you will need to undertake self-directed learning through research, project work and assessment tasks.
