This training program is designed to provide a wide range of business skills to support administrative staff working in a small contracting business.

Focusing on the practical skills and knowledge required by administrative staff working in a building and construction business. Learn how to interpret workplace information, building and construction compliance and the management of financial records. This course is an invaluable resource and will lay the foundations of a successful business.

This training program has been grouped into a series of short courses, which provide a progressive and practical learning experience. The short courses are:

  • Manage Operations
  • WHS Business Basics
  • Manage Compliance
  • Manage Products
  • Small Business Marketing

On successful completion of this course, you will graduate with a Certificate for the nationally recognised qualification:

  • Certificate III in Business - BSB30115

Please note that this qualification was superseded on 18th of October 2020 and replaced by BSB30120 - Certificate III in Business. HIA Training will commence enrolments in BSB30120 - Certificate III in Business in 2022, however the new course is currently not available.

What do I need before I start?

HIA will conduct a pre-enrolment review with you to make sure that this program is suitable for your career goals, current skills and experience.

  • a competent level of English; reading, writing, interpersonal and communication skills
  • access to an office environment

Desirable:

  • basic computer skills in spreadsheets, search engines and word processing

All participants will be required to undertake and pass a language, literacy and numeracy assessment before enrolment.

The program should take around 4 to 6 months to complete, dependent on how this qualification is scheduled in your region. You will need to commit 16 days of face-to-face time for this training.

Outside of this allocation of time, you will need to undertake self-directed learning through research and assessments.
