This course will provide the mandatory basic health and safety training required to obtain the nationally recognised “Construction Induction Card” relevant to all persons working within the building and construction industry.

On successful completion of this course you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the Nationally Recognised unit:

  • CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry

To start this program, you must have:

  • a good understanding of English reading and writing; interpersonal and communication skills

You will need to commit around 4-6 hours of face-to-face learning and assessment time for this short course (duration varies between states and territories due to regulatory authority requirements).

Issuance of the Construction Induction Card

ACT

  • Applications for a Construction Induction Card will only be accepted as an online smartform. Applications are no longer accepted at Access Canberra Service Centres. Once the smartform has been lodged with the required documentation attached (certified copies of 3 forms of ID and the Statement of Attainment which needs to be less than 60 days old) the applications are then assessed and if approved, the General Construction Induction card will be sent by post to the applicant.

NSW

  • The Construction Induction Card can be applied for via NSW WorkCover. You must provide your Statement of Attainment as evidence of training and assessment completion.

Northern Territory

  • On successful completion of the course and assessment, HIA will also apply for the Construction Induction Card on behalf of the learner, through NT WorkSafe.

Queensland

  • HIA will issue the Construction Induction Card to the learner on behalf of Workplace Health and Safety Queensland on successful completion of this course and assessment.

South Australia

  • On successful completion of the course and assessment, HIA will also issue the Construction Induction Card to the learner, on behalf of Safework SA.

Tasmania

  • The Construction Induction Card can be applied for via Service Tasmania. You must provide evidence of your identity and your Statement of Attainment as evidence of training and assessment completion.

Victoria

  • HIA will apply for the Construction Induction Card from WorkSafe Victoria on behalf of the learner on successful completion of the course and assessment.

Western Australia

  • On successful completion of the course and assessment, HIA will also issue the Construction Induction Card to the learner, on behalf of Worksafe WA.
