  1. Where will the HIA 2020 National Conference take place?

    The HIA 2020 National Conference will be on the Gold Coast, Queensland
    Majority of the events will take place at The Star Gold Coast with offsite networking events taking place at various locations around the Gold Coast.
  2. What is the registration fee for the HIA 2020 National Conference?

    The regular registration fee is $1,870 per person but take advantage of our Super Early Bird offer of $1,430 per person available for the first 100 bookings.
  3. What is included in my registration fee?

    Registration fee includes:
    Thursday 28 May
    Registration pack, evening Welcome Party and transfers
    Friday 29 May
    Barista Coffee
    Business Building Sessions with keynote speakers (Morning)
    Morning Tea
    Business Lunch with keynote speakers (Afternoon)

  4. Does the registration fee include airfares and hotel accommodation?

    No. You will need to book your accommodation and airfares separately. We have negotiated a special accommodation rate for HIA conference delegates at The Star Gold Coast and also discounted airfares with Qantas. Visit the Accommodation and Flights pages for further details.
  5. What is the dress code?

    Most events at the HIA 2020 National conference have a smart/casual dress code. The HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards dress code is cocktail.
  6. What is the cancellation policy?

    If you can no longer attend the Conference, you may cancel your registration by providing written notice to conference@hia.com.au. HIA’s refund policy is as follows:
    • Cancellations made in writing received before 1 February 2020 will receive refund of registration fee less a 10% administration fee
    • Cancellation made in writing received between 1 February 2019 and 8 April 2020 receive 50% refund of registration fee.
    • Cancellation made after 8 April 2020 will not be entitled to any refund.
  7. Can I bring my children to the conference?

    You are welcome to bring children to the Welcome Party and Networking Party however all children will remain the responsibility of their parents or guardian. There will be a small cost of $50 per child aged 12-17. Under no circumstances are children under the age of 18 able to attend the HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards.
  8. Can I purchase a ticket to attend the HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards?

    No. The 2020 HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards is the final night gala dinner of the national conference. You must purchase a full conference pass to attend the HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards.
  9. What will the weather be like in Gold Coast in May?

    In autumn (March - May), sunny days are followed by warm nights – making it ideal for outdoor water activities such as fishing and sailing. Autumn temperatures fall between 16-26°
  10. Can I arrive on the Gold Coast before the conference or stay after?

    Absolutely. The Star Gold Coast is pleased to offer HIA members special discounted rates from 22 May – 2 June 2020. Discounts are subject to room availability.

  11. Is there a HIA Charitable Foundation Golf Day?

    In a National Conference first, a Top Golf golfing tournament will be offered. Forget walking around a course with your team, at Topgolf you’ll hit micro-chipped golf balls into giant targets on the outfield from your very own bay, scoring points when you hit them
    Registration for the HIA Charitable Foundation Golf Day on Saturday 30 May can be made in the same online booking form as the conference registration.
    We are also taking expressions of interest for a traditional Golf Day on Sunday 31 May 2020.
  12. Can I earn CPD Points?

    For those members who need to accrue CPD points, the HIA National Conference earns 2 points. You must sign the CPD register upon arrival at the Business Building Sessions for the points to be validated.
