What will the regulators approach to Work Health and Safety be?

April 05, 2020

Safe Work Australia, the national safety regulator, has released information regarding the approach of state based regulators (excluding Victoria) to ensure compliance with Australian WHS laws during the COVID-19 Pandemic, recognising that the current situation has created exceptional circumstances that will impact everyone.

While compliance and enforcement activities will continue the focus will be on matters that pose serious risks to health and safety as well as advisory support.

Ensuring that construction work activities are carried out safely, based on an assessment of what is reasonably practicable in the circumstances (including COVID-19 health and hygiene requirements) must remain a priority to prevent the risk of injury on site.
