Run an event

Whether you’re thinking of a small morning tea or a large gala dinner, every idea is a good one regardless of the amount of funds raised ! The Foundation’s Fundraising Guidelines will help you get started and included is the Fundraising Registration Form which you’ll need to complete and return. Once you’re registered, the Foundation will provide written confirmation and issue you with an Authority to Fundraise letter in line with fundraising legislation. Then it’s time to start planning your activity - make sure you let us know what support you require from the Foundation so we are able to assist where you need it!

Your support will make a huge impact on the industry related charities the Foundation supports. We are happy to answer any questions you may have or provide support where possible. Some popular fundraising ideas that you may like to consider are:

  • Fundraising dinner or Gala event
  • Golf Days
  • Online fundraising for a running, cycling or physical activity
  • Trivia night
  • Morning tea for your staff and friends
  • Movie night
  • Raffle or auction

Fundraising is a great way to get together with friends and family and support the industry and its related causes.

Registering your event or activity

If you have raised money offline, please complete the Fundraising Results Form (this was sent to you with your authority to fundraise confirmation) and return this to the Foundation along with a cheque or money order for the amount raised.

You can also make a direct deposit to the HIA Charitable Foundation. If you choose to transfer the funds, please still send your completed Fundraising Results Form so we can thank you appropriately for your contribution. Please quote your provided fundraising reference in all transfers.

If any of your donors require a receipt, please record their details on the Fundraising Results Form and send it to us. Receipts will then be issued direct to the donors. Only donations of $2 or more are tax deductible. Please note tax deductible receipts cannot be issued if goods or services are received in return for payments (e.g. an auction prize or event ticket).
