HIA has a designated consumer line to help consumers with any contractual questions.
You can access the HIA consumer line on 1902 973 555, at a rate of $2.75 a minute.
We can provide information about:
- HIA contract information
- membership checks
- complaints processing
- and other general information.
Note: HIA cannot provide advice on legal or technical matters, defects and/or inspections or licensing.
We also have a complaints process available to consumers, which is managed by HIA’s InfoCentre.
If you want to file a complaint against a HIA member, please send your complaint, including the details of the property concerned, your contact information, and the HIA membership number of the builder involved, to either:

Note: As a membership association, HIA cannot make an enforceable decision regarding a compliance matter, specifically in relation to an alleged breach of contract or technical issue. In these instances, it is recommended that consumers obtain their own independent legal advice.
