Watch & learn

Even when you’re busy onsite or at your desk you can stay connected to the residential building industry year-round with HIA Webinars.

Industry-related training and information sessions – live or pre-recorded – are available through HIA Webinars, providing HIA members with access to content you won’t find offered at face-to-face events.

Given that many in the home building industry are time poor, webinars are a great way for you to stay connected, regardless of where you’re situated. Update your professional development or learn about something new, with the added advantage of watching the content wherever it suits you – be it in your office or at home (pyjamas allowed!).

As the word suggests, webinars are simply web-based seminars, on par with any other professional seminar you’d attend. HIA Webinars structures its presentations to allow members to still engage with the facilitator in real-time. Tuning into a live session won’t be a static experience since most presentations will allocate time for a Q&A session at the end. You can send in your questions at any point throughout the seminar, and you’ll also be able to hear the questions and answers submitted by other participants.

All webinars are recorded and uploaded to HIA’s website. If you miss the real-time presentation or want to go back and re-watch it, you will have access to the recording as well as a library of past seminars. Visit HIA Webinars to get started.

How can I participate in a webinar?

All you need is your member logon details to access content on the HIA website, whether this is from your desktop, laptop or smart device. To find pre-recorded webinars, go to the menu and select ‘Publications’ and then ‘Webinars’. From here, you can access all existing webinars at any time and watch at your own pace.

To the right of this page is a subscribe button. If you aren’t subscribed already, you can click to sign up to ensure you receive email invitations about upcoming webinars. These invitations will come with a link to register. After completing the online registration, you will see your confirmation ‘thank you for registering’ page. This will have the link to join the webinar – save this to your bookmarks or favourites so you don’t lose it. At the scheduled time and date, simply click on the link to join the webinar.

Keep in mind that webinars are live events and your internet connection speed is going to influence how well you see and hear a presenter.
