The 2020 HIA Australian Apartment of the Year award was nabbed by builder Adrian Zorzi in Western Australia for a relaxed but sophisticated beach-side apartment that oozes coastal chic.
The announcement was made during the virtual broadcast of the 2020 HIA–CSR Australian Housing Awards on 29 May.
The winning project, with its neutral colour palette and sweeping views of the Indian Ocean, casually opens from its living area past expansive glass sliding doors onto the alfresco, cantilevered to form the roof of the apartment below.
The generous-sized apartment features a scullery behind the kitchen as well as 'his' and 'hers' walk-in-robe and ensuites – one side feminine and the other finished in masculine tones – that are uniquely designed to accommodate the privacy of the clients who frequently travel internationally.
Feature stone walls, Portuguese limestone floors, marble benchtops and a high specification of luxury fittings all combine seamlessly to create an apartment of style and function.
The judges were impressed with the exceptional finish and faultless workmanship, as well as the home’s automation and inclusion of a turntable in the garage.
The HIA–CSR Australian Housing Awards are the ultimate platform to showcase the talents of the nation’s top builders and designers. Winners are selected from state-based finalists, with awards in 21 separate categories.
The Apartment of the Year category, partnered by Toyota, is for an individual residential dwelling within an apartment complex, which may be any dwelling within the complex, including the penthouse.
