Dual winners Creative Building Services and DNA Architects took out the 2020 HIA Australian Townhouse/Villa Development award for this charming and incredibly well executed urban project.
The accolade was announced during the ceremony of the 2020 HIA–CSR Australian Housing Awards, held in a virtual format for the first time on 29 May.
The considered design and construction of the five townhouses ensures the units are bright and airy, with allowances made for the target market of downsizers to age in place.
Excellent orientation and high raked ceilings allow an abundance of natural light to pour indoors, while guaranteeing a pleasant aspect to the external community garden.
The inclusion of a central courtyard separating the main living area from the master bedroom gives additional privacy for occupants.
The judges were impressed with the impeccable workmanship of the trades, such as the joinery and tiling, plus the individuality afforded to each unit.
The HIA–CSR Australian Housing Awards illustrate the talents of the nation’s top builders and designers. Winners are selected from state-based finalists, with awards in 21 separate categories.
The Townhouse/Villa Development category, partnered by Brickworks Building Products, recognises multiple dwelling residential projects in the one development. These can include dual occupancies, villas (one storey), townhouses (two or three storey) and terrace housing, whether attached or detached.
