2020 HIA–CSR Australian People's Choice Home of the Year

Winner: MyStyle Homes (QLD), North Queensland

A luxurious tropical design from builder MyStyle Homes (QLD) has the distinctive honour of being Australia’s favourite property after being named the 2020 HIA–CSR Australian People’s Choice Home of the Year.

Voted as the winner through Houzz Australia, the people’s choice award is in the hands of the public, offering the opportunity for devotees of beautiful homes and interiors to weigh in on their favourite project from the 2019 HIA Home of the Year state winners.

The announcement was made on 29 May as part of the presentation of the virtual 2020 HIA–CSR Australian Housing Awards, with a North Queensland builder selected as the consumers’ top choice for the second year running.

Perched on high ground overlooking Cairns toward the Great Barrier Reef, MyStyle Homes’ winning project is a stunning tri-level four-bedroom home that ensures visitors are bowled over upon entry, and the surrounding panoramic views are enjoyed from every possible location.

Featuring a full home automation system, billiards room, wine cellar, home theatre, dedicated cocktail and whiskey bar, plus an elevator, the home is packed with future-proofing features and functional zoning for comfortable family living.

Solar passive design allows for optimal airflow and ventilation to suit its tropical climate, while a wet-edge pool and enormous alfresco area guarantees easy entertaining.

Polished concrete floors, feature stonework, sustainably-sourced Walnut timber, custom handmade tapware and Italian floor tiles sourced for their heat-reflective properties – all combine to create an upmarket style and feel.

This project also won the 2020 HIA Australian Kitchen Design and 2020 HIA Australian Bathroom Design awards.

Beautiful and clever design paired with expert workmanship has resulted in a magnificent home by MyStyle Homes (QLD).
