Congratulations to Premier Gladys Berejiklian

April 09, 2019

The NSW election resulted in the return of a majority coalition Government and the first female to be elected Premier.
Whilst it took a couple of days post the election to determine if a majority Government could be formed, it was ironic that it was a National Party seat (Dubbo) that delivered the all-important 47th seat to the coalition after what was a routing of the National Party vote in regional NSW. The only National to defy the trend of 15%-20% swing against the party was their leader and Deputy Premier, John Barilaro. Locally in the HIA Hunter region all local Members of Parliament have retained their seats both in the Hunter and on the Central Coast.

Premier Berejiklian’s Cabinet has been announced with a number of changes. Your team at HIA will now get down to the business of lobbying the new ministerial team on the issues that matter for the residential construction sector.

The basic message to the Premier is to stay the course on infrastructure delivery and ensure that policies are adopted that support a strong residential construction sector.
