Employers urged to get Single Touch Payroll ready ahead of 1 July
May 20, 2019
With 1 July fast approaching, the ATO are urging all employers with 19 or fewer employees to start reporting through Single Touch Payroll (STP). Employers with 20 or more employees should have already started reporting their employees’ salaries and wages, pay as you go withholding and superannuation information to the ATO.
An HIA information sheet provides the most up-to-date information including a link to the ATO website that lists low cost providers of single touch payroll systems.
The ATO website also has some further information about exemptions and deferrals. Employers with 19 or less employees could start using their payroll software to report payroll anytime up to 30 September 2019. If you have unreliable or no internet service then the deferral page has guidance about your options.
