Fair Trading waives annual licence fees

April 23, 2020

NSW Fair Trading is waiving application and annual renewal fees for home building contractor licences,  trade contractor and specialist contractor licences, as well as qualified supervisor certificates and tradesperson certificates. This move is a result of the financial  impacts of COVID-19 on business and one way the NSW Government can provide some relief to business during this difficult time.

The fee will be automatically waived from 15 April 2020 for renewals and new applications for contractor licences; and from 20 April 2020 for supervisor and tradesperson certificates. So when you make a new application or apply to renew, you will not be charged during the 12 month relief period.

The minimum term of a licence will benefit from the waiver. This means that if a contractor licence has a 3 year renewal term, the waiver of the annual amount will be applied (waiver of 1 year’s fee out of the 3), with the balance of the term payable.

The fee waiver does not apply for change of class, changes to the licence or replacement of the licence.
