HIA Contracts are copyright protected

March 27, 2019

Contracts produced by HIA are protected by copyright law. This means that HIA owns the intellectual property in the information and the design contained in those contracts and related contract administration documentation. Except to the extent permitted by relevant copyright legislation, you must not use, copy, modify, transmit, store, publish or distribute that material without obtaining the prior written consent of HIA.

From time to time, Workplace Advisers are asked to look at or review a contract that a member has prepared (not purchased from HIA), only to find that the terms and conditions in those documents are identical to, or largely reflect, the content in HIA’s contracts.

Members are reminded that if you would like to use HIA Contracts, they must be purchased for each job from HIA. Alternatively, HIA Contracts Online, a subscription-based online tool, lets you create and save affordable, professional contracts featuring your own logo and business details. If you want to add your own terms and conditions, or delete or add to any standard term and condition, you have the ability to this by using the special conditions options which are available in most of the contracts within the HIA suite of contracts.
