Planning approvals to be impacted by new State planning policy
March 24, 2021
The new Design and Place State Environmental Planning Policy (new SEPP). is set to have a major impact on planning assessment processes in NSW. It will introduce new design standards for places of all scales, from buildings, significant developments and precincts, as well as for infrastructure and public space.
An explanation of intended effect (EIE) is currently open for comment and submissions will be accepted beyond the advertised close date of 31 March 2021.
The final Design and Place SEPP will go on public exhibition in late 2021 and will include new policy along with supporting design guidance and tools, including a revision to the Apartment Design Guide, changes to the Building Sustainability Index (BASIX) tool and the development of a new Public Space and Urban Design Guide.
More information can be found on the NSW Government’s website.
