Temporary Change to CPD Requirements
July 20, 2020
NSW Fair Trading has provided some relief to Builders and Swimming Pool Builders by reducing the minimum CPD obligation. Licence holders seeking to renew or restore their licence between 1 May 2020 and 31 December 2020 will now be accepted once they have completed a minimum of 9 CPD points over the preceding 12-month period.
Builders are ordinarily required to earn 12 CPD points in each 12-month period, however Fair Trading has granted a concession in recognition of the continuing impact of COVID 19. Restrictions on face-to-face training and gatherings, cancellation of CPD delivery or concerns about attending CPD events are some of the recent challenges builders have faced whilst trying to fulfil their continuing professional development obligations this year.
This temporary change is in addition to Fair Trading’s earlier announcement that it is waiving application and annual renewal fees for eligible contractor licence and qualified supervisor certificate holders for 12 months, in response to the financial impact of COVID-19 on business.
