Fishermans Bend - Urban renewal project upgrade

June 10, 2019

The Victorian Government has recently been seeking public feedback to assist in informing the precinct implementation plans for each of the five precincts located within Fishermans Bend. The recent consultation process is one in a series being undertaken in partnership by the Victorian Government’s Fishermans Bend Taskforce, the City of Port Phillip and the City of Melbourne.

In late last year, the Victorian Government released the Fishermans Bend Framework, which will be utilised as a long term strategic plan for the development of Fishermans Bend through to 2050. The Victorian Government states that by 2050, it is anticipated that Fishermans Bend will accommodated 80,000 residents and 80,000 jobs through medium to high density mixed use developments. Consisting of approximately 480 hectares, Fishermans Bend presents a significant opportunity to provide infill housing supply to accommodate Melbourne’s rapidly increasing population.

Later this year, the Victorian Government will be undertaking a more detailed engagement process, to provide the public with the opportunity to offer feedback on the proposed implementation plans for each precinct within Fishermans Bend.
