HIA’s bushfire recovery response
January 08, 2020
HIA Members have rallied around their fellow members and their communities to help in the current bushfires. Many of the fires are still underway and have caused unprecedented levels of destruction and loss of life. Our thoughts go to all those affected communities. HIA is working to connect members who need help with those who are able to provide it. HIA is also working with government agencies to do whatever we can to assist, whether it be providing temporary accommodation, rebuilding, repairs, new tools and anything else that will help members get back up and running. The Victorian Government has announced a permanent new agency Bushfire Recovery Victoria (BRV) to coordinate the long process of rebuilding and recovery within communities impacted by bushfire. BRV is already operating and will be working to ensure whole-of-government coordination, reporting directly to the Premier. Further updates regarding the work of Bushfire Recovery Victoria can be found on their website.
In addition, the Victorian Government has partnered with Bendigo Bank and The Salvation Army to establish the Victorian Bushfire Appeal. The Government has made a $2 million contribution to the Appeal. Donate to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal.
We will keep members up to date with how they can help further and our thoughts go out to those members that have been affected by the fires across Australia.
