July 21, 2019

On 1 July 2019, the Victorian Government announced the release of the next phase of Victoria’s Solar Homes program. This phase of the program has been allocated $1.3 billion to be rolled out over the coming years. It is anticipated the program will assist 770,000 households invest in solar.

As the program is primarily aimed at consumers, the majority of options can only be applied for by home owners with limited options available for rental properties, industry and community housing. It is therefore important builders discuss the Solar Homes Program with clients and consider the various rebates and loans being offered for solar panels, solar hot water and solar battery options.

The Victorian Government has created an online, fast track application portal, to assist in streamlining all applications processes for applicants. The program sits in a portfolio entity within the Department of Environment, Water, Land and Planning.
