Support for workers being tested for COVID-19

July 27, 2020

The Victorian Government has announced a $300 payment to support workers who need to isolate after being tested for coronavirus – but who don’t have sick leave to rely on. This includes casual workers, contract workers and those who have no more sick leave. You don’t need to be a citizen or a permanent resident to receive support. If you are eligible, this payment will support you to stay at home while you wait for your test results. If you are confirmed as having coronavirus, or are advised that you need to self-isolate as a close contact of someone who does, you will also receive a $1500 hardship payment.

The Victorian Government is also extending this support to include workers who have children under 16 who are required to self-isolate. This will mean if you have children who need to stay home and you lose wages to care for them, you can also receive support.
