State Budget 2019/20

The Western Australian Government has delivered its 2019/20 State Budget on Thursday, announcing a surplus and a number of measures that will impact the housing industry. 

Government announced a six month boost to the Keystart Lending Criteria, allowing more Western Australians to access finance.
From 1 July to 31 December 2019, the income limits for singles and couples will be increased by $15,000 and for families $20,000.    

Employers in the construction industry who use a Group Training Organisation to employ an apprentice will receive a grant of $2,125 per year of employment. This is a welcome incentive that comes in addition to Construction Training Fund incentives, an inclusion that HIA lobbied for on behalf of industry. The incentives will be available from 1 July 2019 but members are encouraged to register their interest by contacting wa_enquiry@hia.com.au

The preparation for MetroNet projects continue and commitments to the First Home Owners Grant (FHOG) and associated Stamp Duty concessions are ongoing in the forward estimates.
