Twilight Display Home Opening Hours Trial

January 22, 2019

For a number of years the home building industry has worked within set display home opening times. Considering the way retail shopping hours have evolved, there may be an opportunity to reconsider the way we engage with the home buying public.

To test consumer preferences, a number of builders have agreed to trial twilight display opening times over the early months in 2019, and everyone is welcome to be involved.

Starting the first week of January, builders will be opening their display homes on Wednesday’s from 4.00pm until 7.00pm, instead of the traditional 2.00pm to 5.00pm opening times - taking advantage of the summer evening light. As we all tend to be home in the evening, it’s a great way for a home buyer to experience the home as they would live in it.

The trial is expected to run through until Easter and all builders are encouraged to use this logo in their advertising, social media and communications, which will help to build awareness of the change in display home opening hours.

HIA will be supporting the trial with coverage in our weekly column in The West Australian and advising the public at every opportunity; supporting industry in growing the volume of people visiting displays, and looking to build their new home.

HIA and builders will be keeping track of how the trial progresses and will consider extending the trial following a period of operation and market acceptance. We will keep all members informed.

So how do you get involved? Simply change your opening times on Wednesdays to 4.00pm until 7.00pm!
We would love to hear how many of you get involved and how it works out for you so let us know.
