What's it all about?
This qualification provides carpentry skills with a trade outcome in carpentry, covering work in residential and commercial applications.
The units of competency requirements cover common skills for the construction industry, as well as a specialist field of work.
The construction industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires all units of competency to be delivered in this context.
On successful completion you will be issued with the nationally recognised qualification: CPC30211 Certificate III in Carpentry.

Who would do this training?
This course is suitable for:
- School leavers wishing to undertake a trade apprenticeship in the construction industry in carpentry.
- Existing workers in the construction or other industries wishing to undertake a mature age apprenticeship in the construction industry in carpentry.
- Participants that have completed pre-vocational training wishing to undertake a trade apprenticeship in the construction industry in carpentry.
What do I need before I start?
HIA will conduct a pre-enrolment review with you to make sure that this program is suitable for your needs, current skills and experience.
To start this program, you must have:
- A good understanding of English reading and writing and numeracy
- Suitable interpersonal and communication skills
It is a requirement that participants have successfully completed the unit of competency: CPCCOHS2001A Apply OHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry before undertaking any of the following units:

How long will it take?
You will need to commit 520 hours of face-to-face learning time for this training. Outside of this allocation of time, you will need to undertake self-directed learning through research, project work and assessment tasks. CPC30211 Certificate III in Carpentry
On successful completion you will be issued with the nationally recognised qualification: CPC30211 Certificate III in Carpentry.
To achieve this qualification, you must demonstrate competency in:
- 30 nationally recognised units of competency:
- 22 core units [C]
- 8 elective units [E]
